I would like to introduce myself, Growler Performance Bikes, and give a little insight on how and why we chose to donate in the manner that we do. My name is Willo “Wheels” Glynn and I’m the founder of Growler Performance Bikes. Growler is a bicycle manufacturer based out of Rochester NY. Since our beginnings in 2015 Growler has specialized in performance fat bikes, plus bikes, 29ers and now gravel bikes. Late last year we brought all of our aluminum frame production back to the United States and now manufacture all of our own frames in our facility in Florida.
-Once the frames are manufactured they are then shipped to our Rochester NY facility where we Powder Coat and Assemble to the customers specifications. Every bike that is built through us starts off as raw materials and ends with the exact bike the rider request. We call it “Brew your own”. The best part is that spec for spec our bikes match other major brands offerings but with a frame that is made in America.
As for donating to local groups. Like almost everyone associated to cycling, we are cycling enthusiast as well. Enthusiast all around the country rely on local advocacy groups to build and maintain trails, work with local land managers, and to support and grow the local cycling communities. Unfortunately, that takes money. As many of the local cycling advocacy groups are not for profits they depend heavily on donations. In New York alone we have donated over $30,000 to local groups. We donate in many ways. The easiest way we have found to donate money in the areas that matters most to our riders is by allow our customers to choose where the money goes.
We also support two military charities, Mission 22 and the Expeditionary Veterans Association. Both of these charities are designed to support our brave men and women of the United States Military. They have sacrificed so much for us and we want to make sure that they receive the support they need.I hope this better clarifies our intentions and helps facilitate more donations for our amazing advocacy groups. If you know of any other groups that would like to participate we gladly open our doors to everyone.
